Waiting room/antechamber - a mostly-empty room used either as a demilitarized zone between two groups sharing the dungeon or an overflow space for a leader type. Depending on how long the dungeon's been in use, this could be nearly pristine (with the unsalvaged remnants of whatever the room was before its repurposing) to nearly full of refuse. Trash room - a place used by the denizens to toss unwanted waste. You might not end up with a logical layout, but it would be good old school D&D gonzo fun. I think it would be fun to draw a bunch of rooms and then randomly determine what each room was. I'd like to get enough of a list to make a random room type/contents table. What are some other rooms that might show up in a dungeon (specifically, an old school D&D type dungeon).Īnd what might the contents of those rooms be? For example, a library would have bookshelves (obviously), maybe chairs, tables, a desk. ![]() ![]() Living quarters for more important inhabitants So what kind of rooms might you find in a dungeon? Off the top of my head: As in, what kind of room is it, and what are its more mundane contents. We've got random generators for monsters, treasure, and traps, but I don't know of any source for generating the rooms themselves at random.
